How do I link a loan to an asset?

Connect a loan to the asset it financed to see your net equity.

Updated 22 Jul 2026

A home loan and the home it bought are two sides of one thing. Link them, and ProjectionWealth shows what you truly own after the debt — your net equity.

Link the loan

When you add or edit a loan, use the Linked Asset field to point it at the asset it financed. It's optional — the placeholder reads None (optional) — but linking unlocks the equity view.

Read the equity

Once linked, the loan's page shows a strip with the Asset Value, the Outstanding loan, and the Net Equity between them — the same strip appears on the asset's page as its linked loan.

Net Equity is the asset's value minus what you still owe on it.

Note: If the loan is larger than the asset is currently worth, the Net Equity turns negative and is flagged Underwater — a useful heads-up on anything financed heavily.

Do this on your real portfolio
