How do I preview my tax before I sell?

Use the Tax outlook slider to see net proceeds, gain and tax for a partial sale.

Updated 22 Jul 2026

Thinking about trimming a holding? The Tax outlook panel lets you drag a slider and watch what you'd actually walk away with — before you commit to anything.

Use the slider

On the holding's page, find the Tax outlook panel. Drag the Sell quantity slider, or tap a preset — 25%, 50%, 75% or 100%. Everything updates live.

Drag to any amount and read You'll receive, P&L and Tax to pay.

Read the three numbers

  • You'll receive — your net proceeds, after tax.
  • P&L — the gain on the part you'd sell.
  • Tax to pay — the estimated tax, with the effective rate beneath it.

The bar underneath splits the sale into Invested, Profit and Tax so you can see the shape of it at a glance.

Note: The panel tells you whether the gain is long- or short-term and applies the ₹1.25L long-term exemption where it fits. Tap Show details to see the full working, line by line.

Nothing here books a sale — it's a preview. When you're ready to go ahead, use Sell and confirm.
